Installation Procedure for the PDM Clutch Sleeve Repair Kit TSK-1 and TSK-3

For All Subaru Legacy, Impreza, & Forester Models

·        Remove original throw out bearing and fork.

·        Clean transmission snout with solvent, carburetor, or brake cleaner.

·        Using a piece of sand paper, emery cloth, or Scotchbrite ™, smooth the transmission snout of any burrs & clean again.

·        Slip repair sleeve over the transmission snout, positioning the set screws

45 degrees from transmission case halves seam.

·        Make sure the back of the sleeve is tight against the transmission case.  A slight tap on the shoulder may be required.  Do not tap on the leading edge of the sleeve.  This may damage it or cause the bearing to stick.

·        Tighten the setscrews, careful not to over tighten, so as to prevent cracking the transmission snout or deforming the sleeve.

·         Loctite on the threads is recommended.

·        Apply supplied grease to the sleeve, the groove inside of the new throw out bearing, and the pivot ball on the transmission.

·       Install the throw out bearing on the clutch fork by lightly squeezing the retainer clip and slipping it into the back of the fork.  Reinstall fork and throw out bearing together.

  • Apply label to right strut tower.

·      NOTE!!! Check the fork pivot ball clip for clearance to the sleeve when installed. Clip may have to be bent at a more acute angle to clear the sleeve shoulder. Typically this is only applicable to cable actuated clutches. Failure to do this may create a clicking sound when depressing clutch.
